Global attention for Harmonia Village

Japanese film crew with Carrie

Published 24 February 2020

The team at Harmonia Village at Dover welcomed another film crew this week – all the way from Japan.

The crew were filming for Fuji Television’s flagship current affairs show, Mr Sunday, and spent a whole morning on site.

They toured the hub and guest house, as well as the houses, and heard the story behind the village and how partnership working made it a reality.

Harmonia manager Carrie Mandeville, and clinical lead Dr Phil Brighton were interviewed alongside Henry Quinn, the Trust’s strategic development manager.

In a wide-ranging interview, they covered everything from the importance of music to the village to how technology will be used to help provide the best care.

And they were also able to share their future hopes for the project, including a space where residents can grow their own food.

The crew have also visited other, more traditional, care settings and plan to compare our offering with the situation in Japan.

Harmonia Village is part of the General and Specialist Medicine Care Group and is currently awaiting CQC Registration, with a view to welcoming its first residents this spring.

Well done to the Harmonia team for their professionalism in the interviews and thanks to everyone involved.
